Quarantine vs. Isolation: What’s the Difference?

The local patient at Rochester General Hospital has been released from the hospital because they are well enough to go home.

The patient is in voluntary quarantine at home waiting for test results.

Quarantine = restricting the movement of people who have been exposed to an infectious disease.

Watching them to see if they become ill.

Isolation = restricting the movement of sick people to keep them from spreading infection to others.

Make sense?

In the meantime, stay tuned…
