Just Sayin’ with Dr. Valenti
The podcast that gives you an insider’s view on how to manage a pandemic… from HIV to COVID-19.
They say it takes a village to raise a child. Well, it also takes a community to address the HIV/AIDS epidemic, or any epidemic for that matter. And I’m proud of the ways my hometown and community, Rochester, New York, has done that.
In this podcast I’ll take a look back on past experiences, reflect on today’s challenges, and ponder ways we as a society can best move forward. Each episode I’ll be joined by close friends, colleagues, and individuals who will share their unique insight and fresh perspective. Join me, your host, Dr. Bill Valenti, and together we can learn, listen, and advocate.

Episode 7: Thomas Lawrence & Aggy Dune
I talk with my friend Thomas Lawrence, who many of you may know as Aggy Dune. Aggy came to prominence in the early days of the AIDS epidemic. We talk about the role of drag in this time of life and death. But there also was laughter, and no politics involved, thanks to Aggy Dune and her sister drag queens.
Episode 6: A Talk With Dr. Michael Mendoza
Dr. Michael Mendoza leads the Monroe County Department of Public Health. For almost 3 years, he has guided us through COVID. A few weeks ago, he made time to talk with me about how he promotes wellness. In this three-part series, Dr. Mendoza talks about promoting sexual health, how to manage pandemics and epidemics, and how people react in times of health crisis.
