Liquor Stores vs. Churches: What 's the Difference?
Both are essential services, according to President What’s-His-Name.
Recently, he deemed that houses of worship should be allowed to open and be considered essential services.
Putting politics aside for the moment—as states have opened up, houses of worship have begun to hold physical services instead of the virtual option. Several notable outbreaks, with deaths of congregants and faith leaders, have been reported from churches.
Why and how? Lack of physical distancing, physical contact, church choirs, and prolonged times in closed spaces, to name a few of the risks.
This outbreak was traced to a gathering at an Arkansas church. There are many others.
There have been no such outbreaks traced to liquor stores—physical distancing works. People do not usually stay in a liquor store for an hour, sing, hug, or touch each other. Buying alcohol is usually an “in and out” experience.
