Remembering Congresswoman Louise Slaughter

Our HIV and LGBTQ communities lost a good friend and advocate today. I have many good memories of her, her spirit and her passion for her job.

At the ribbon cutting for Community Health Network’s HIV Clinic, December 14, 1989, Louise, the microbiologist, said in her remarks, “The work of this clinic will transform AIDS in ways we cannot appreciate today. Along with needed medical care, Community Health Network will give patients comfort and a refuge from this illness. This clinic will provide health care, hope, and maybe someday, a cure."
