2017 was a good year overall. We broke new ground with Rapid Start Treatment and PrEP for men of color who have sex with men. This month, I will be reflecting on personal, medical and community growth. Here are the top 10 things that I took away from 2017...
7. The Past Informs the Future
Steve Scheibel with Dr. Hannah Solky, the first AIDS psychiatrist in Rochester. I asked Hannah to meet with clinic staff in 1982 because of the stress of taking care of patients who were dying in this high stakes game.
She thought she would drop by once or twice and ended up staying 15 years! What she did during that time was to define and deal with health care worker stress in the AIDS era. And broke new ground in the process.

And how about this distinguished group? The original Community Health Network treatment team paved the way for the future.

Originally a pharmacist, Dr. Rodney started our clinical pharmacy program that lives today. We didn’t realize it at the time, but having a doctoral level pharmacist in clinic was the first such clinical pharmacy program on the planet (1989).
